The clients bought the house in immaculate condition with a very neutral palate throughout, but understandably they wanted to put their own stamp on it. We changed curtains and blinds to bring in their favourite colours, and used most of their orginial furniture whilst adding a few new pieces here and there; we managed to update the house whilst giving it a certain familiarity.
In reality we changed very little in the kitchen, but dropping these beautiful Fritz Fryer Hereford globe lights over the table modernised the traditional shaker style.
The sitting room with its Morso wood burner and wool Sofa.com Iggy sofas is a room that comes in to its own in the colder months, so we introduced orange in the soft furnishings to keep the predominantly grey palatte warm. The Romo Austin Henna curtains have a lovely warm texture which works well with the silk Jane Churchill Plato cushions. The very simple table lamps are from John Lewis.
The colour scheme here was led by the blanket on the bed which the clients loved and works well in this sunny south-facing guest bedroom. The fabrics for the blinds and cushions came from Romo’s Cubis range, specifically Chella and Sylvan in Quince and the furniture is from West Elm’s mid-century influenced Penelope range; rich warm wood topped with cool marble.
